Born 1998 in Brooklyn, New York. Self-taught contemporary artist Coby Katz is known for his intricately designed paintings, exploring a theme coined “Stairism”. The pieces can be viewed from numerous perspectives, all in effort to bring the viewer inside the painting, entering a world of inception.

By allowing the orientation of the viewer to shift depending on which viewpoint is followed. The renaissance changed the course of art history, revolutionizing movements like expressionism, Impressionism, surrealism and cubism which ultimately paved the road for coby to create Stairism.

Coby developed his own unique style, exploring themes of human influence, culture, nostalgia. Fascinated by architecture and the process of creating a blueprint from start to
finish, Coby utilizes the two to intertwine with each other in each painting.

Step by step is the way I live my life. I grew up in Brooklyn and worked out of my basement every single day. Every day I wake up and I’m thankful to step into my studio. I enter into my own world, a dream world, where anything I can think of becomes reality.

A little over a year ago I moved to Los Angeles from New York. My dream was to throw my first ever solo exhibition without any gallery backing. 1 year later my dream turned into reality. My goal as an artist is to create artworks that allow you to see through a new perspective, I want the viewer to feel connected to the work itself. As an artist I have a disease called “what’s next” my only cure is next.
